Student Government is open to all students.Students have a voice on every committee in the school and in the district including the Curriculum Council and the Crisis Response Committee.Student government representatives also have their own committees including the Constitution Committee and the Advertising Committee.All student government representatives meet every other Thursday in Cafeteria A at 7:30.During the course of these Senate meetings, a student created agenda is followed.Students report on the various committees they sit on, the president of each class gives a report for their grade, and students discuss pressing business (including student events and student concerns).All students (whether you are an elected official or not) are welcome to attend and take part in meetings. To run for a position in your class government you need the signature of a class advisor as well as a teacher who will support your candidacy.
To run for a position on the Executive Board (the cabinet for the entire school) you need the signature of a class advisor as well as one of the student government advisors.
EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS: President – The President is the figurehead of the Student Government.It is the President’s responsibility to meet with the Principal of the high school each month.The president creates the agenda for student government meetings and runs the meetings.The President must take a leadership role in all student government activities. Vice President – The Vice President’s main responsibility is to run Activities Forum meetings.This forum allows representatives from all clubs come together and increase communication about when to fundraise and other issues that pertain to all clubs. Treasurer – The treasurer manages the government’s finances.The treasurer pays our bills and heads fundraising efforts. Public Relations – The public relations officer is responsible for publicizing student government events and activities.The PR person is responsible for updating the bulletin board in the Senior Lounge and making commercials to publicize our events.
